The Felta Education Foundation is made up of dedicated volunteer parents, teachers, and community members who are passionate about enriching the educational experience at West Side Elementary. Our team volunteers their time to attend meetings, organize and run fundraising events, reach out to potential donors, and coordinate enrichment programs. Each member plays a vital role in ensuring the success and sustainability of our initiatives.
When families tour West Side Elementary, they’re immediately drawn to what makes our school so special: the vibrant enrichment programs, beloved traditions, and the strong sense of community that surrounds every child. At West Side, we believe every student deserves more than the basics. They deserve music that builds confidence, art that ignites imagination, gardens that connect them to the natural world, and community events that help children and families feel they truly belong. We are West Side.
WHAT IS FELTA?
Felta School House is the historic one-room schoolhouse that sits just East of the current West Side School campus. Built in 1877, it originally served as Felta School, educating local children in the Westside area of Healdsburg long before the formation of the West Side Union School District. Over time, as the community grew and modern school facilities were developed, the original schoolhouse was preserved as a cherished landmark. Today, Felta School House stands as a symbol of West Side Elementary’s deep roots in community, tradition, and public education — connecting today’s students to nearly 150 years of local history.
