Physical Education
Physical Education (PE) is essential because it supports the whole child — physically, mentally, and socially. Regular movement helps children build strength, coordination, and healthy habits that can last a lifetime. Just as importantly, PE improves focus, boosts mood, reduces stress, and supports academic performance by helping students return to the classroom ready to learn.
PE also teaches teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship, and goal-setting. Through games and structured activities, students learn how to collaborate, handle challenges, and build confidence in their abilities.

PE isn’t just about exercise; it’s about developing healthy, resilient, and confident learners.

Meet coach tiff!
With more than 25 years of outdoor and physical education experience guiding its leadership, West Side’s PE program is built to inspire movement, confidence, and lifelong wellness. Our goal is to get students outside, introduce them to a wide variety of sports and activities, and help each child discover their own love of being active.
Students participate in skill-building lessons, team sports, fitness challenges, and outdoor experiences that promote strength, coordination, perseverance, and sportsmanship. The program is inclusive and supportive, serving all learners — from beginners discovering a new activity to experienced young athletes continuing to grow. We believe every child has unique strengths and deserves the opportunity to explore them through movement.
By combining structured physical education with an appreciation for the outdoors, West Side’s PE program helps students build healthy habits, resilience, and confidence that extend far beyond the playground.
Help us keep our kids moving, growing, and thriving.
