ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

What Is an Enrichment Program?

Enrichment programs are the experiences that bring learning to life. They go beyond core academics to nurture creativity, confidence, critical thinking, and connection. At West Side Elementary, enrichment includes programs like art, music, physical education, garden education, field trips, and community-building events that help students discover their passions and strengths.

These programs are not “extras.” They are essential to developing well-rounded, curious, and engaged learners.

HOW ARE ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS FUNDED?

Public school funding primarily covers the basics — classroom teachers, core curriculum, and essential operations. It does not fully fund many of the enrichment opportunities that families value most. That’s where our community steps in.

At West Side, enrichment programs are funded through the efforts of the Felta Education Foundation (FEF), our parent-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. FEF raises critical funds through donations, events, sponsorships, and volunteer leadership to ensure these programs continue year after year.

Without FEF’s fundraising and volunteer support, many of the programs that define the West Side experience simply would not exist. When families and community members give their time, talents, and financial support, they are directly investing in the vibrant, inspiring education our children deserve.
